Drop-top Drivers Can Now Bring Along 2 Bags of Luggage and their Golf Bags

Insider sources close to the project say the 2011 Murano convertible will be produced in limited numbers, and will be targeted at empty-nesters who need room to carry the grandkids, but still want something fun. But the kids will need to pack light, as the current Murano offers just 31.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and the convertible mechanism will certainly cut into that space.
Held each year in Las Vegas, Nevada, the SEMA Show 2010 is an industry event for the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association.
Much more than just a trade show, SEMA brings together tuners and parts suppliers from across the auto industry to display their latest products using some of the most highly-modified and colorful vehicles anywhere in the world. Sometimes these creations are things of beauty, and some time they are outright disasters, which is part of what makes the SEMA Show so entertaining. Sharing the trade show floor along with the modified hot rods, muscle cars and sport compact cars, will be some mainstream automakers that are bringing an increasingly important presence at SEMA.

The Nissan Pathfinder has been around the block a few too many times. It was quite revolutionary when it debuted in the mid-1980′s and a great response to Toyota’s 4Runner as it defined a new category of truck that could move 5 passengers with all their gear. Fast forward a few years and the Pathfinder has been slowly updated but never quite redone. New features for this year include a standard moonroof on the LE V6 model, a standard navigation system on the LE V8, and simplified exterior and interior color combinations. Minimal updates allowed Nissan to hold on to a loyal customer base and offer a vehicle to the person looking for a traditional body-on-frame chassis as opposed to the new crop of unibody SUVs.

After more than two and a half years and 30,000 miles of Versa ownership, I was happy to see that the rest of the world is recognizing this superb car. I’m referring to June 2010 sales of new cars in the sub-compact / small hatch category. Versa was at the top of the list, outselling Kia Soul (2nd), Chevrolet HHR and Aveo, also Dodge Caliber, Hyundai Accent, Mini, Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris and Scion xD.
The Infiniti M35 Hybrid, known in the Japan-market as the Nissan Fuga, is not Nissan’s first hybrid — that distinction goes to the Altima Hybrid. The M35 Hybrid is Nissan’s first hybrid developed in-house. The Altima hybrid uses a customized version of Toyota’s hybrid technology.
But unlike the Altima’s system, Nissan claims its new setup is more technologically advanced and less complex at the same time. For example, Nissan’s single electric motor arrangement is reportedly close to 70 pounds lighter than Toyota’s double-motor system.
While admitting to the late start, Nissan said its one-motor, two-clutch system would achieve far better fuel economy, at a much lower technical cost compared with hybrid leader Toyota’s complex, two-motor “series parallel” system.
The Amgen Tour of California will be hitting our streets starting Sunday, May 16 and with the Tour comes a full entourage of support vehicles that provide support for the race and teams. Nissan announced today that it will serve as the official vehicle of the Amgen Tour of California. In addition to the more than 40 support vehicles provided for this week-long event, Nissan is also the official team car for Team Radio Shack – the elite cycling team led by seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and three-time defending Amgen Tour of California champion Levi Leipheimer.
The largest cycling event in America, the 2010 Amgen Tour of California is a Tour de France-style cycling road race, presented by AEG, that challenges the world’s top professional cycling teams to compete along a demanding course from May 16-23. The world-class roster of teams and cyclists includes 16 internationally sanctioned teams comprised of 127 riders from 23 countries.

Let’s face it, sedans can often have quite sedentary and dull looks. Nissan must understand this, because the 2010 Altima Coupe is far more exciting to look at than its larger, 4-door laden, sister. Some people just like the look of two doors better. For those that cry foul at four doors, you are in luck. The 2010 model has undergone a refresh this year and is much improved.
No one talks about how ugly Shrek is anymore – it’s so beyond that – so hopefully people will stop wondering, like they’ve been doing a lot lately, whether the Nissan Juke is too funny-looking to develop a following. I guess when the Juke – introduced at last year’s Geneva Motor Show as the Qazana concept car, and this year as the Juke proper – goes on sale in the US this Fall, we’ll find out once and for all if people like its big ole’ (inverted) headlamps and wheel arches, and its futuristic Day Light Opening shape, or not.
Now, I still gotta give Nissan a “Ya think?” regarding their assertion at today’s press conference that the Juke “will stretch the boundaries of what ‘crossover’ means.” Nissan let us know that the Juke borrows its toughness from Nissan’s family of SUVs, but its “driving pleasure…stylish good looks…and 1.6 liter, turbo-charged, direct-injection engine” from the sports side of the family. There is also a meager resemblance to the sedan side, and it seems that while they were pregnant with the Juke, they kept whispering onto Mommy’s tummy the word “small.” Promptly confusing that smallness is the Juke’s 5 seat cabin and the fact that in sitting high over traffic, you feel bigger than you are; wait, maybe that means you are small, or medium? What?
