It’s Friday, so why not have a little fun, huh? SEAT, Volkswagen’s auto concern in Spain recently came out with this apparently nifty racing game that runs on the latest iPhone and touch-screen iPods (I say apparently cause I’m too cheap to own either yet).
The game is reminiscent of a BMW app that was floating around a short while ago, and it take advantage of the iPhone/iPods tilt sensors; tilt right and the car turns right. And the car in question is pretty interesting, especially if you like hot Euro hatchbacks. It’s SEAT’s Ibiza Cupra, that features a 180HP 1.4-liter four banger that’s get this, turbocharged AND supercharged. Tell me that doesn’t sound like fun.
But sadly, that’s as close as any of us red-blooded American hot hatch fans are likely to get, since the SEAT Ibiza Cupra isn’t for sale in the US. VW doesn’t think we’d be interested in the various SEAT models, and there’s the hassles of getting a car federalized and all that. Who can blame them? Then again, you’d think that VW could take the 180HP 1.4-liter turbocharged and supercharged four banger and drop it into a Golf and sell it over here. I’m just sayin’.
Anyway, if you’ve got some serious Spanish car lust going, go to SEAT’s website & get the game. SEAT says that more than a quarter of a million people downloaded it to their iPhones and iPods. The company also said that by the summer, it will release an updated version of the Ibiza Cupra game with more cars, circuits and competition models.
At least we’ve got options, even if they’re only digital.
