Toyota FT-86 II Concept Moves Closer to Production

Toyota FT-86 II ConceptA new concept  of the Toyota FT-86 debuted at the Geneva Motor. The Toyota FT-86 II concept sports coupe, after making its original debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show with the FT-86 concept, seems to be moving closer to an actual production model.

Little information and specs have been released about the redesigned FT-86 II concept. However, we do know that it will use a 2.0-liter, four cylinder boxer engine with power driving the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

A few major differences between the original FT-86 concept version and the latest FT-86 II concept are the larger rear window and front grille, a new front bumper with a string of LED daytime running lights, and a different rear bumper with larger dual tail pipes.

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept Unveiled at Geneva Motor Show Could Be Sold In U.S.

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept CoupeAt last week’s Geneva Auto Show, Alfa Romeo unveiled the 4C concept coupe, that will likely be sold at U.S. dealerships paired with Fiat.

Similar to the 8C Competizione, the more compact 4C concept is smaller, built with carbon fiber and aluminum, and will weigh less than 1,800 pounds. The Alfa Romeo 4C will also feature a 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 200-horsepower, rear-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive, and a top speed of 155 mph.

2012 Ford Focus SFE Joins 40 MPG Club

Ford Focus SFEFord has announced their latest vehicle to join the 40 MPG Club with the all-new 2012 Focus SFE (Super Fuel Economy) that has been EPA certified at 40 mpg highway and 28 mpg city.

The new Ford Focus SFE joins other fuel efficient 40 MPG cars such as Ford’s own Fusion Hybrid and Fiesta, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Elantra, just to name a few.

The Focus SFE has other fuel friendly features such as, a dry-clutch PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission, a 2.0-liter direct-injection DOHC four-cylinder engine that combines high-pressure direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency, 16-inch steel wheels with aerodynamic wheel covers, active grille shutters, high-efficiency tires, four-wheel disc brakes, and a rear spoiler. The 2012 Ford Focus SE sedan starts at $17,270 with a $495 SFE option.

With oil prices on the rise and the current demand for more fuel efficient cars, Ford picked the right time to announce another vehicle that gets 40 mpg!

Volkswagen Bulli Conecpt Inspired by Original Microbus

Volkswagen Bulli ConceptA decade after the 2001 Microbus concept, Volkswagen has announced the new reinterpreted Volkswagen Bulli concept, that follows in the footsteps of the orginal Microbus. Debuting at the Geneva Motor Show, the new Bulli has a similar shape to the Microbus with plenty of interior space and measures in at 156 inches long, 68.4 inches wide and 66 inches tall. It will include a 113-horsepower electric motor supplied with energy from a lithium-ion battery pack allowing driving ranges of up to 186.4 miles. This zero emissions vehicle can also be recharged in less than an hour.

The six-seater interior of the Bulli is reminiscent of its ancestors, in that the seat system can be transformed into a large reclining surface. The outer and middle seats of the front bench can be folded down and the rear beach can be completely stowed to increase cargo room. The Bulli will also feature a removable Apple iPad “infotainment control” that controls the stereo, navigation, and Bluetooth.

Lexus LFAThe first Lexus LFA supercars arrived in the U.S. in January 2011 and CarReview was invited to a Lexus driver development program with the opportunity to drive the 552 horsepower LFA in its element at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California.

To sum it up, the rear-wheel drive LFA is a dynamically styled supercar powered by a sophisticated new high-revving 4.8-liter V10 engine that generates 552 hp (412kW/560DIN hp) and 354 lb-ft (480Nm) of torque for adrenaline-fuelled 202 mph (325km/h) performance. This specially-developed powerplant is hooked up to a unique six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) with paddle shifters for ultimate driver control. Linked by a rigid torque tube for excellent drivetrain integrity, the ASG is located in a transaxle layout over the rear axle for an optimal 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution.

BMW M Performance Exhaust System for M3BMW has announced the new M Performance exhaust system accessory for the M3 Coupe, Sedan and Convertible. The M Performance exhaust system is made of Inconel, a lightweight, heat-resistant, and corrosion resistant chrome-nickel alloy, that will produce a more powerful sound due to the flow-optimized exhaust which will reduce overall back pressure. The M Performance Exhaust is about 20 lbs lighter and also features perforated inner pipes and polished titanium tips with the laser engraved M logo. The BMW M Performance exhaust system is available for $4,374 plus installation. $4,374 for an aftermarket exhaust? There better be some magic associated with the Iconel metal that makes up the exhaust kit.

2013 Chevrolet Cruze Goes Diesel for North America

2011 Chevrolet CruzeNews has emerged that the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze will be available as a diesel engine option for the North American market, with sales expected to begin sometime in 2012. GM Inside News sources at the Lordstown, Ohio assembly, where the Chevy Cruze is produced, are said to have confirmed they will start building a diesel model for the 2013 model year. The Chevrolet Cruze is a popular car that is sold in over 60 countries worldwide in gasoline and diesel engine models and was just recently launched in the North America market. With Americans becoming more interested in fuel efficiency and smaller sized cars, the diesel powered Cruze could be a step in the right direction.

Audi A3 Sedan Concept to be Shown at Geneva Motor Show

Audi A3 Concept Notchback SedanAudi has released a few sketches of its A3 concept sedan version that is bound for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Audi describes the A3 concept as a “four-seater notchback sedan” that will measure 174.84 inches long (4.44 meters), which is about six inches longer that the current A3 model. The redesigned A3 also promises a little extra power and more premium features. The A3 concept car features a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder, 408-horsepower engine, a seven-speed S-tronic twin clutch transmission, Audi’s quattro AWD system, LED headlamps, a trapezoidal grille, and an arching roofline and low C-pillar for a coupe-like appearance.

NIssan Juke Model vs. Model AccelerationIn the spirit of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition going on sale this month, Nissan released a series of four ads that were created to answer the age-old question: what’s better, the Nissan Juke or a tall blond bombshell in high heels?

The Juke marketing campaign pits Amber and the car against each other in the categories of acceleration, agility, appeal and aerodynamics. Neither really wins in the end, but we get to see Amber in four bikinis, plus a few slow-motion shots that really test your pacemaker. I think the biggest achievement is not Nissan’s newest crossover, but Amber running the sprint and slalom course in a pair of high heels without breaking an ankle.

New 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class CoupeAnnounced ahead of the Geneva Motor Show launch and due to leaked images earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz has officially announced the new 2012 C-Class Coupe with the C250 and C350 models, that will compete with the Audi A5 and BMW 3-Series Coupe. The C250 features a 1.8-liter four-cylinder, 201-horsepower engine, a 7-speed automatic transmission, a 0-60 acceleration time of 7.1 seconds, an aluminum trim, and an estimated EPA combined city/highway fuel economy of 24 mpg.
