Value
The RX-8 R3 I drove weighed in a $33,000, which puts it a few large more expensive than the Subaru WR-X, but it delivers a different class of driving. While the WR-X provides a thrilling ride, its strength lies in the phenomenal thrust-to-weight ratio that the powerful engine and light body offer. The RX-8 on the other hand offers almost as good acceleration, but with far better handling and styling. On the other side, a BMW Z4 Roadster Coupe offers similar handling, better build quality and a more posh brand – at a significant price premium and without a rear seat. All this makes the RX-8 a solid value for the driving enthusiast.
Conclusion
Mazda has put together a very attractive package with the RX-8 R3, providing lots of thrilling driving in a car that turns heads. While the stereo is phenomenal, it does not offset the overall build quality – unless you are OK with cranking it up to cover any creaks or rattles. I enjoyed my time with this car and wished I had room for it in my garage. With cat-like agility and a wide power band, the RX-8 will make you want to take up long Sunday drives on twisting mountain roads- or maybe just pretend you are Speed Racer yourself.

It can got to 9200 rpm then you get redline. It sounds like a turbine jet engine inside the cockpit of this rotary machine. It is absolutely fun to drive and is a handling monster with the 50/50 weight distribution. I think it needs a supercharger to make it perfect.
Those have got to be the finest stock wheels on a car ever!
I got to drive this car and you have to keep the revs higher than 4000 rpm. But it goes all the way 8k so there’s lots of room for fun. The cornering is incredible the car sits on corners at the limit. I would have loved to break out the rear and do some drifting but I guess I’ll just have to watch Top Gear for that.
