Handling
Search elsewhere if you want a SUV that handles like a Porsche Cayenne. Try pushing a tall box that weighs 6000-lbs through a clover leaf at speed, and you’ll experience the challenge. Land Rover had equipped this model with Adaptive Dynamics which works by “predicting the response to driver input, allowing the system to help mitigate any excessive movement, rather than a conventional system that reacts after the vehicle has already moved.” It works, and in most spirited driving or quick lane changes, the system does an admirable job keeping the vehicle flat.
If you do any off-roading, the Range Rover is in its element and its capabilities are unsurpassed. With the Terrain Response System, you simply select (via dial) the terrain (e.g. sand, snow, or mud), and the system, in concert with the Adaptive Dynamics suspension system, coordinates and optimizes the settings for the engine, transmission, suspension, and traction while reading the surface conditions. It doesn’t get much easier, and I can confidently say, not any better.
Styling
Can a box be made beautiful? With the Autobiography, the answer is an unequivocal “Yes!” While driving around, we noticed more than a few people looking (okay maybe gawking) at the Range Rover. The designers have refined the design over the years, and compared to our 2004 Range Rover, have integrated subtle changes that exude elegance (softening of some of the edges) as well as adding performance cues (the vertical gills/vents on the front quarter panels and the large front brake rotors). It’s tall and not the easiest to get into, but exclusivity doesn’t always incorporate functionality.
Value
If buying a vehicle in the $100k+ range, “value” is not part of the purchase decision. A $1,000 steering wheel might seem a lot to some, but to touch and see the melding of wood and leather by artisans to create a circular work of beauty makes the price seem justified.
No Other Matches the Range Rover
It was a pleasure to drive almost 500-miles for this test. We managed 14.4 mpg which is slightly above the government combined average of 14 mpg (EPA ratings: 12 city/18 hwy). If you want to distinguish your Range Rover from other lower-priced models, the Autobiography is for you. Power, ride comfort, safety, a myriad of personal settings plus its all conquering off-road capabilities, you won’t find another SUV in this range. Sure the Cayenne or X5 M might be faster or handle better on the road, but could it survive the Rubicon Trail? I doubt it.

Range Rover – L322 , designed in 2002. Piece of garbage.
From a piece of garbage company.
Lame.
If you are going to talk trash about a vehicle, at least back it up with some facts. Your opinion carries zero weight or credibility without a sound foundation.
It’s seems dated and out of step with the world at hand. But it’s British and we tend to aspire to there ancient tired products. The last generation originated in the 1950′s this has soldiered on for a decade which is rather long in whats been a super advanced technological era.I think this say’s luxury like Teabager’s say revolutionary .For this high price you are not getting much and for much less you could get many other options.Still the commercials of being the vehicles of Royalty and adventure which makes people salivate. How long this will go on I don’t know but they better get what they can.Since the engines of will be very different will TATA be able to afford to source a Hybrid/Gas or Hybrid/Diesel or Hydrogen or Electric. We will see but I don’t would not bet on it.
