Audi is targeting a new market segment with the A7 Sportback, which is scheduled to make its debut late next year as a 2011 model. The large five-door model with the dynamically accentuated rear end brings together the best of three worlds: the sporty elegance of a coupe, the comfort of a sedan and the practicality of a station wagon.
Audi has just released the complete details and images of the new Audi A7 which had its public unveiling at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, Germany. Video of the unveiling ceremony is below. Did she say, “tight butt?”
The Audi A7 will be powered by a range of direct injected V6 engines as well as supercharged mills and DSG gearboxes and quattro all wheel drive innovations. Like all Audi models, the high output S7 and RS7 models will follow later on in the production cycle and are expected to have a 600 HP variant of the twin turbocharged 5.2 Liter V10 under the hood.
Initially, the Audi A7 will be made available with a choice between two gasoline engines and two diesel engines. The gasoline powered versions of the Audi A7 will have either a 2.8 FSI developing 204 hp and 206.52 lb-ft of torque or a 3.0 TFSI V6 developing 300 hp and 324.53 lb-ft of torque.
The diesel power version of the Audi A7 uses the 3.0 TDI developing 204 hp and 368.78 lb-ft of torque and and a 3.0 TDI producing 242 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. The Audi A7 will send its power to the quattro all-wheel-drive system through the company’s 7-speed DSG (twin-clutch) transmission.
We will likely get the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that is found in the S4. No diesel motors have been confirmed for the United States market.

Audi does it all right. Except there reliability since they tend to have oil leaks in the non diesel models.It’s very beautiful as all Audis are bravo.
Interesting. In America we refer to designs such as the Porsche Panamera, BMW 550i GT, and now the Audi A7 as a “sportback” design.
In Europe the cars fall into the 4 door coupe category.
