The Eco-Savvy Garage

Press and News

green-garageHere’s a car idea you don’t hear talked about very much: Building a better garage. The one you see pictured here has more of an eco-bent, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth picking over.

See, I grew up in a British car family, so that means I spent a LOT of time in garages. So to me, have a well outfitted, well thought out garage is a real basic must have. For starters, you got to have a lot of light. Working on a car with not enough light is just torture, and I really like what they did here by having that ring of high level windows. Another benefit of having a lot of glass area: the garage heats up more. Yeah, sure, in hotter climates this is a negative, but I don’t live there. So when you let in a lot of light, you’re also keeping your pride and joy nice and toasty – and it doesn’t cost you anything, since the sun’s free.

And it’s got lots of the other stuff you should have: lots of work benches, storage cabinets, bench space, and more cabinets. I don’t see an air compressor, but you should really have one of those. Apart from that, all you need is every tool you can lay your hands on, and a cool car, and you’re all set.
