Lotus Sport 2-Eleven GT4 Supersport Racer

Press and News

Can I license one of these things for road use? Seriously? … OK, I’m just kidding, but it makes you think doesn’t it.

What we have here is an uprated version of Lotus’ latest track car the 2-Eleven. This one is called the GT4 Supersport. The bodywork is tweaked here & there, there’s a full roll cage and not only does it crank out more power, but it also has a sequential shift gear box. That would be 270 HP with 181 lb-ft of torque. All that gets transmitted to the tarmac through the new 6-speed sequential box with a push/pull shift lever.

And here’s another neat little trick Lotus has added to the GT4: The gear position and shift indicator is hooked into the engine management computer so torque output is varied during shifts. You can upshift without lifting your foot, and the engine automatically blips the throttle for downshifts. Slick huh? I’m sure that will really help with lap times, but the purist in me (and probably Colin Chapman from his grave) frowns on the dilution of driver involvement.

Sadly, Lotus is only going to roll out 10 of these beauties, and the price will be (gulp) £78,255 Which is around 125,208 good ol’American dollars. Which is a lot, but still, you KNOW this has got to be a blast.

Now, where could I hang a license plate?
