Brit hottie Katherine Legge competed in 2005′s Toyota Atlantic Championship with Polestar Motor Racing. She created quite a stir in the North American Champ Car Series after winning the series opener at Long Beach in her first career Toyota Atlantic start. In doing so, Legge became the first woman to win a developmental open-wheel race in North America. She finished the season 3rd in the championship with three wins and five podiums. She also received the Toyota Atlantic BBS Rising Star 2005 Award.

The 27-year-old Briton Katherine Legge follows in the footsteps of Michèle Mouton, Tamara Vidali and Vanina Ickx. Over the last two years Katherine Legge is the most successful woman ever to have competed in the US counterpart to Formula 1.

We mentioned she’s hot, right?

Leilani Münter

Bodacious Leilani Münter currently drives the No. 57 SMART Papers Dallara in the Firestone Indy Lights, the development league of IndyCar. Prior to her debut in open wheel racing, she was a stock car driver in the NASCAR Elite division. Most of all, she’s a hottie!

Leilani was born and raised in Minnesota. She holds a bachelors degree in Biology specializing in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution from the University of California San Diego. While attending college she worked as a volunteer at a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center. She started racing cars in 2001 and spent six years working her way up the NASCAR ranks.

In 2007 Leilani received a life changing call from an IndyCar team and later that year she became the fourth woman in history to race in the Indy Pro Series, the developmental league of IndyCar. She impressed the open wheel racing world when she qualified 5th for her debut. Leilani was running in the top six when a multi car accident took her out of the race. Her racing accomplishments have landed her on seven magazine covers and in the pages of Italian Vogue, Esquire, Sports Illustrated and USA Today.

In fall 2008, Leilani became an Ambassador for the National Wildlife Federation and landed a national ad campaign as a Lucky Jeans model, her caption read: “Leilani Münter, Race Car Driver and Environmentalist – Saving rainforests one race at a time.” Her ads appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, In Style, W Magazine and Lucky Jeans stores across the country.

Man, I’d like to a plant a tree with her!

Erin Crocker

Fiery redhead, Erin Crocker made headlines in 2006 as the only woman to compete full time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. She also ran in the ARCA and NASCAR Busch Series.

Erin Crocker first got behind the wheel of a car at the age of six. Even though it was a go-kart, it was still a motorized vehicle! The following year, she started racing quarter-midgets and she hasn’t taken her foot off the accelerator since.

Erin became only the 11th female driver to compete in the NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) Busch Series, considered the “minor leagues” to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the highest level of professional competition and home to the Daytona 500. The Wilbraham, Mass. native also races in the NASCAR Truck Series, which features pickup trucks.

Question Erin. Does the NASCAR carpet match the NASCAR drapes?

Milka Duno

Spicy Milka Duno is a Venezuelan race car driver who currently competes in the IndyCar Series. In 1998, Duno was invited by a friend to participate in a Porsche Driving Clinic. The rest, as they say – is history. In 2007, Milka scored a second-place finish in the 24 Hours At Daytona – earning the highest finish ever by a female driver in the 45-year history of the race. She also made history by becoming the first Latina to qualify and race in the Indianapolis 500.

In addition to being one of the most successful female sportscar racers in history, Milka is also a qualified Naval Engineer with four master’s degrees – in Organizational Development, Naval Architecture, Fishing and Aquaculture and Maritime Business – earning the last three degrees simultaneously.

Man, I’d like to check under her hood!

Did you guys not read the title of the article?

Go back and read it again.

It is not judging women on whether they can drive or not. It is commenting on a few women that are not only excellent racers but just happen to look good as well.

Leilani Münter is exploiting the fact that she looks good, she is the Lucky Jeans Model, and has had her image plastered all over magazines.

I don’t take anything away from any of these girls, but until recently, racing has been a man’s sport. So naturally, guys hear about girls in racing and of course the first thing they are going to do is wonder if she is hot. Deep down inside, that is every guy’s dream. And if you say its not, then you’re lying to yourself on some level.

I have raced against Sara Fisher (Although its was back in her dirt racing days) and I sucked at Late Models. And have raced against Katherine Legge in some SCCA events at the Club Level. Those girls have earned everything they have got. They have worked hard to get where they are, and in this day and age, if being an excellent female racer and good looking is working for you… then I say use every weapon in your arsenal to get where you want to go in life.

As my wife (who is hot and an excellent track day driver, by the way) always says. “Hey, you have to use your gifts, otherwise, what good are they?”

Thanks for your comment and for recognizing the honorable aspects of the article. While I do admit the article was posted to draw page views (what article isn’t?), I tried to do it in a semi-intelligent and responsible manner. Even the photos included in the article were chosen carefully.

And this isn’t the first time I have written about female racers. Link to the article below profiles two gals who are addicted to the sport and show more heart than most guys. Marissa and Kim may not have the high profile like Danica Patrick, but their enthusiasm with motorsports runs just as strong.

All Milka Duno has is her looks. She is a terrible race car driver if you actually follow racing. The commentators at one race even referred to her as Milk and Donuts because she is such a joke at the track. I do agree though that many women in the sport are judged by their sex and looks rather than ability at times.

  • Kristen says:

Wow what a sexist article. It’s like a female can’t be good at something without having her looks rated. When will it be enough just to be good at something without also having to be considered f***able. Having men think you’re hot isn’t much of a goal in life.

  • amberstaar says:

  • Derek says:

Ashley Force is my favorite, too. And she has two sisters that aren’t too shabby, either.

  • m35man says:

Yeah, now I see what you mean. Better photo. I still like Ashley Force more. She looks like the girl next door.

  • Derek says:

Bad photo quality. Check out Milka’s other photos in the article and tell me you see the same thing.

btw, I replaced the first photo with another photograph of Milka.

  • m35man says:

You call that woman in the photo good-looking? She looks like a tranny with bad makeup. You’ve got to be fricking kidding me!
