2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabrioletDrop-top Drivers Can Now Bring Along 2 Bags of Luggage and their Golf Bags

The world’s first all-wheel drive crossover convertible, delivers the open-air exhilaration of a convertible while extending the versatility of the Murano in exciting new ways. With room for four adults, space for golf bags or luggage (even with the top down), and a premium level interior, the Murano CrossCabriolet represents a breakthrough in concept and design. Set to go on sale in early 2011.

Insider sources close to the project say the 2011 Murano convertible will be produced in limited numbers, and will be targeted at empty-nesters who need room to carry the grandkids, but still want something fun. But the kids will need to pack light, as the current Murano offers just 31.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and the convertible mechanism will certainly cut into that space.

LA Auto Show logoLos Angeles’ Best in Show

By Greg Gaillard

Small, sporty and efficient are back. Overall, the American market continues to drift in the doldrums, but there are signs of life in segments that embrace these values. It’s no accident that during the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ program many of the trades were from large SUVs to much smaller vehicles such as Toyota’s Corolla, Ford’s Focus and Honda’s Civic. People are ready for right size cars and the 2009 LA Auto Show proved that manufacturers are ready to respond with a brace of efficient and exciting choices. If the industry can market these new cars properly, we won’t need another government subsidy to keep people in small and efficient vehicles.

As a show, LA feels like a return to reality from the preceding, concept-heavy Tokyo spectacle. While there were certainly a fair number of concepts at LA, the big news was how manufacturers were positioning themselves to take advantage of trends in the US market. CarReview is happy to report that it’s all good. There will be plenty of green tech to go around and a fair dose of sport to go along with it. Below are some of the highlights:

Honda Goes Nutty for P-NUTs

Honda Personal-Neo Urban Transport, P-NUT at 2009 LA Auto Show(Updated 12/07/2009)

Honda will reveal its P-NUT concept vehicle at the LA Motor Show in a few short days. Short for Personal-Neo Urban Transport, the P-NUT is described as a “futuristic concept for an ultra-compact, aggressively designed coupe”. Information surrounding this new concept vehicle has been kept on the down-low such that Honda has revealed no other details – and not a single teaser image – of its latest concept. Check back after December 2nd and I’ll post up photos of the P-NUT concept released from the show.

Honda says the P-NUT is a design study intended to peer 10 to 15 years into the future of urban transportation. The company says it studied what city-dwellers want in their vehicles, and the results guided this car’s styling and packaging. The concept is a three-passenger affair, with a center driving position flanked by two rear seats. The layout was guided, Honda says, by the fact that most urbanites drive alone or with a single passenger and the designers’ desire to create “mid-size seating room” in a so-called “ultra-compact” vehicle.

The super-short press release and photos from Honda are after the jump.
