Dartz Prombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition SUV from Russia’s RussoBaltique

Have you had many a sleepless night wondering if it’s possible to out-do the Hummer? If so, than look no further than the RussoBaltique, a Russian SUV that aims to be “The World’s Most Expensive SUV”. Or to give it its proper appellation the “Dartz Prombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition SUV from Russia’s RussoBaltique”. I would take it that RussoBaltique is some sort of manufacturer I’ve never heard of and that this, er model has the rather daunting name of ” Dartz Prombron Monaco Red Diamond Edition SUV”. Rolls off the tongue, don’t it?

Well, it won’t roll off your checkbook that easy either, nor will you be able to scrub the options and materials list out of your mind any time soon.

GM Officially Sells HUMMER To Tengzhong

The long expected deal from GM to sell of its extremely poor selling HUMMER brand to Chinese concern Tengzhong has just gone through. So the ride that was once seen as being emblematic of American excess can now be seen as … Chinese excess? Or will it just be seen as excessive, no matter who makes it? And on top of that, with HUMMER sales down something like a bazillion percent from this time last year, just why would Tengzhong, or any other car company, want to invest money in a vehicle like this?

Well, for one thing, if you were to sell it internationally, there might still be a market for it. You know, third world dictators, army types, rappers etc. And the other thing is that Tengzhong is planning on making a “green” version of the HUMMER, whatever that might turn out to be.

For the post-apocalyptic car lover, there's 'Zombieland'

Woody Harrelson in ZombielandBy Adrienne Gruben

Zombieland is a car lover’s dream. First, it’s a road movie. But there’s more. The film begins after a virus has infected the world, killing most, turning some into zombies and leaving a few regular folks to fend for themselves against zombies trying to eat them at every turn. Because Zombieland is essentially a planet-sized ghost town where people were literally plucked from their lives in the middle of mundane tasks, cars are strewn everywhere. Many of them are wrecked and beyond repair, but some are in fine working order, and if you can find one that a zombie isn’t living in, it is yours for the taking.

GM Talking With Multiple Hummer Bidders

Wednesday May 20th, 2009 at 8:55 AM

Hey, check this out: There are people actually interesting in buying Hummer off of GM. General Motors has received serious bids from three outside companies for its Hummer unit, but that it is holding talks with two potential suitors according to CEO Fritz Henderson. The automaker has been trying to unload Hummer since late last year and it says that the much-delayed sale could be wrapped up by the end of this month.

The big question is, of course, who is GM going to peddle Hummer to. Thanks to the negotiations being on-going, and various confidentiality agreements, the General won’t say who either of the bidders are, although the rumors from a few months back had various Chinese and Middle Eastern concerns at the front of the line.

General Motors has been on the verge of selling the money-bleeding brand for what seems like years now, but has postponed the announcement of Hummer’s sale several times. These ongoing delays have lead to rumors that there has been little legitimate interest in the brand, or that it might just be PR hype to keep interest up.

Of course, the funny thing is, a range of trucks like Hummer could be of interest to the right kind of manufacturing concern. If a company were to market them as the trucks they are, rather than as something that the “patriotic” soccer mom uses to tote the kids around in, maybe Hummer could be a going concern.

Tango George ClooneyBy Harmon Leon

Celebrities love a smooth ride. Where would celebrities be without their wheels? Sure they have the money to be toted around in limos, but a celebrity with an awesome car shows not only their status, but also their sensibilities; be it a massive SUV or fuel efficient electric vehicle—it’s their statement to their fans. Celebrities are larger than life, and so should be their vehicles.

Here are a few celebrity cars that really turn heads on the road:

Color Arnold’s Hummer Green

By Harmon Leon

At the start of his governor regime, Arnold Schwarzenegger was the poster boy for the moronic gas-guzzling Hummer during a time when fuel-efficiency should have been the mantra. Single-handedly, Schwarzenegger was personally responsible to bringing the Hummer to the U.S. roadways. Arnold spent $100,000 of his money to retool a street-friendly version of the military vehicle that’s mostly driven by douche-bags with small penis syndrome. Arrrrnold launched the brand that is the symbol of green house gas blood-letting.

Jump ahead a few years to the land of $5 per gallon gas, and Arrrrrrrrnold has changed his tune. Sure, he still likes driving his Hummer, but the star of Kindergarten Cop has taken a vastly different green view. On 60 Minutes last night, Arnold has re-launched the Hummer. Modifying the engine, Arnie now has one that runs on hydrogen, while the vehicle runs on bio-fuel; anything natural like vegetable oil. Arrrrrrrnold’s point is that instead of running people out of their big cars, “Keep all the things you like but change the technology so you push the agenda in a positive way!” Critics says that with his have it all philosophy the Governor sees green through rose colored glasses.

Watch a video clip of Arnold’s interview on 60 Minutes after the jump.

AM General Just Not Into HUMMER

Thursday December 18th, 2008 at 10:1212 AM

The news continues to swirl around GM concerning what they are going to “do” with Hummer, and by “do” I mean, ‘who are they going to unload it on’.

Recently a lot of this has been tied in with the possibility of government bailouts, but GM has been looking to get rid of Hummer for some time. Last time I check the sales figures (around 3 or 4 months ago) sales were down 67% SIXTY SEVEN PERCENT! Ouch! You’d be looking to off-load that property too.

A few days ago, there were rumors of either a Chinese company or AM General actively courting GM to pick up Hummer. Now, word comes from AM Gen that they are not interested.

That’s got to hurt. Why? Because AM General were the people who INVENTED the Hummer. GM bought the brand form them way back when. That’s like calling up your ex, who you left as she cried saying she can’t live without you, and now she won’t give you the right time of day.

So, if any of you out there can scrape up the cash (try looking under the couch cushions), and would like to own Hummer (the brand), ring up GM, seems like they’d be willing to talk.
