Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione And Maseratis Recalled in the US

Alfa Romeo 8C Competiziones OK, now I’m not so jealous anymore, or at least a little less.

It seems that there’s some problems with two of the prettiest cars you can buy in America at the moment.

Number one, the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione, with all those luscious curves and slightly retro styling that hearkens back to when Alfa was a racing marques to be feared has some issues. It seems that some of the Alfas left the factory with incorrectly torqued front and rear suspension upper and lower ball joint nuts. Oops! That could be a problem.

Number two is the same issue affecting MY 2008 Maserati Gran Turismo and Quattroporte which share the same platform with the Alfa.

According to the Maserati factory, the incorrectly torqued ball joint nuts may loosen with consequent steering wheel vibration, a growing metallic noise and progressive loss of driving precision in the transients. If you continue to use the vehicle in these conditions, it may lead to damage of the suspension lever, which in the long term and depending on vehicle usage, may cause the ball joint/suspension arm to break.

So, if you’re one of the 7,912 Maseratis and Alfa 8c Competiziones to be recalled in the States, contact your dealer or contact Maserati for more information at 1-201-816-2600.

Alfa Romeo 8C Competiziones Turning Up Stateside

Alfa Romeo 8C Competiziones Oh purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr … whether I like it or not, as an Italian American, I think I’m probably obligated to like this car. Luckily, I like it regardless. Quite the stunner, the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, huh?

Turn out that the lucky, er, few that were able to come up with the scratch and also get in at the head of the line have been taking delivery of their 8C Competiziones here in the U.S. of A. The first one going to none other than that Glickenhaus chap; you know, the fellow that got Ferrari to build him a custom one off Enzo with a body sort of like the P3/4 Le Mans racers. Must be nice, huh?

According to AutoBlog, the 8C Competiziones made quite the impression when it pulled up to park in Irvine, California. “The car drew a huge crowd, who universally praised it for its voluptuous good looks and gorgeous red paint job.” Yeah, I bet.

I believe that this is running the same Ferrari sourced V8 mill used in Mazers, as well as ferrari’s semi-auto gearbox, so the whole assemblage should get down La Strada plenty quick.

And look good doing it … what’s not to like?
