2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan Review - An all-star sports car with four doors

July 7th, 2009 by mash

2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan
By Mary-Ellen Ash

Yays:

  • A rocket-car with superb engine power and acceleration
  • Big brakes for excellent braking control
  • Tight, crisp steering
  • Spacious and comfortable interior
  • Large boot cargo hold

Nays:

  • Stiff suspension for a luxury sports sedan
  • Can’t extend limited trunk space by folding down the rear seats

An Infiniti car can always be seen out on the local roads and highways. They always receive strong reviews and compliments in many magazines and websites. Once I got into the G37, I understood all the hype. The Infiniti G37 is a stylish and powerful sedan with all its features adding up to a very attractive package. All the attention to details that went into designing and building this car are what makes this car so appealing.

CarReview’s Best Car Choices of 2008

December 31st, 2008 by Derek

Happy New YearHappy New Year everyone!

Another year has passed by and it is time for reflection upon the past year, as well as looking forward to more good things happening in 2009. 2008 had the debut of the largely anticipated Nissan GT-R which ran rings around the competition from the European stalwarts such as the BMW M3 and Porsche 911. In 2008, gas prices reached an all-time high of over $4 per gallon and dropped below $2 a gallon in less than six months. I don’t even want to mention the controversy surrounding the subject of bailing out the big 3 American auto makers because that conjures up more pain that the taxpayers have to bear. Getting past the greedy oil brokers and money-grubbing banks, there were still some outstanding cars that came out in 2008. CarReview’s editors reviewed the cars for 2008 and picked their favorites. Below is our list of outstanding vehicles that don’t require any handouts from congress.

(The photos are linked to the page with the corresponding consumer reviews.)

2008 Infiniti G37 - Racing Infiniti’s Red Rocket

2008 Duel-at-De Anza autocross course
By Alex Kramer

Every year at the college where I work the auto-tech program hosts an autocross, the “Dual at De Anza.” For years I’ve contemplated entering the event, but either lacked the courage or the right car to do so. When I heard that CarReview.com would be testing a 2008 Infiniti G37 on the weekend of this year’s race, I gave Derek a call and with his blessing entered both of us.

As far as luxury sports coupes go, the Infiniti G37 is a fine example of how impressive this class of automobiles has become. Combining the refinement of the finest luxury sedans with some serious horsepower and handling prowess, the G37 feels most at home cruising down the highway at a high rate of speed. Would this large coupe have the right balance of power and cornering agility for the tight confines of an autocross course? We would soon find out.

2008 Infiniti G37 - The European Sports Coupe NOT from Europe

October 4th, 2007 by torbach1

2008 Infiniti G37
by Tamir Orbach

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Even better acceleration than the ’07 G35
  • Handles and feels like a true sports car and easily up to par with competing BMW sports coupes and sedans
  • Very comfortable sports seats
  • Intuitive controls
  • Lots of standard features and great options
  • Killer sound system
  • Price

Cons:

  • Fit and finish much improved over ’07 coupe, but not yet up to par with BMW (very close though) and definitely not up to par with Audi (whose interiors I consider to be the best in the business)
  • Rear seat is useful only for sado-masochistic adults, small children, or Dobby the house elf, with difficult ingress and egress from rear seat
  • Trunk size is fairly small even for a sports coupe
  • Auto box needs a 6th gear for highway driving

First Impressions: 2007 Infiniti M35 Review

August 6th, 2007 by twain

by Twain Mein

2007 Infiniti M35

Introduction

This review is for the Infiniti M35. There are three versions of the M35; “base”, M35x—all wheel drive, and M35 Sport—with sport suspension and rear wheel steering. This review is for the base model—though heavily optioned. Sticker is $41,000, but ours was loaded and came to nearly $50,000. It’s a sport/luxury sedan that competes against the Lexus GS, Audi A6, and in between the BMW 5- series. With less than 300 horsepower and somewhat non-descript styling, I wasn’t sure how well it would fare.

Pros:

  • Wow. Upon closer inspection, it actually looks pretty damn good. The styling is subtle but really elegant. Grows on you. Probably disappears to cops which means fewer tickets
  • Interior. Gorgeous leather. Seats that are very comfy yet well bolstered for spirited driving
  • All the electronics gadgets you could ever want. Most importantly, integrated blue tooth so you can talk hands free. This will become law next year in California.

Cons:

  • Perhaps too many electronic gizmos…
  • Rear seat doesn’t fold down

2007 Infiniti M35 Review - The “Value-Oriented” Luxury Sedan

August 6th, 2007 by Kurt Gensheimer

by Kurt Gensheimer

2007 Infiniti M35

Blings:

  • V-6 weight and fuel economy with V-8 power
  • Dizzying list of whiz-bang features
  • Easy to use navigation system
  • Light and nimble handling
  • FINALLY someone has figured out seat coolers!
  • Fit and finish like a German luxury sedan

Dings:

  • Mind-boggling list of whiz-bang features
  • Irritating Nanny Nissan Lane Deviation Warning system
  • Rand McNally works better than the navigation system
  • Transmission doesn’t compliment the smoothness of the engine

Ruling:

For those non-pretentious types looking to save thousands, the Infiniti delivers everything a German luxo ride does. Well, almost everything.
