AM General Just Not Into HUMMER

Press and News

The news continues to swirl around GM concerning what they are going to “do” with Hummer, and by “do” I mean, ‘who are they going to unload it on’.

Recently a lot of this has been tied in with the possibility of government bailouts, but GM has been looking to get rid of Hummer for some time. Last time I check the sales figures (around 3 or 4 months ago) sales were down 67% SIXTY SEVEN PERCENT! Ouch! You’d be looking to off-load that property too.

A few days ago, there were rumors of either a Chinese company or AM General actively courting GM to pick up Hummer. Now, word comes from AM Gen that they are not interested.

That’s got to hurt. Why? Because AM General were the people who INVENTED the Hummer. GM bought the brand form them way back when. That’s like calling up your ex, who you left as she cried saying she can’t live without you, and now she won’t give you the right time of day.

So, if any of you out there can scrape up the cash (try looking under the couch cushions), and would like to own Hummer (the brand), ring up GM, seems like they’d be willing to talk.
