I like the idea of a rear-wheel drive small coupe, but they still don’t have the power that the American cars have out of the box. I purchased a cobalt SS, the 4 cylinder turbo engine is rated at 260-hp and 260 lb ft of torque… More torque than the Hyundai v6 engine and I get better gas mileage. after bolt ons and a tune, I’m getting 340hp and 360 lb ft of torque.. The only problem is that it is FWD. Which is why I started looking at this Hyundai. It appears to have a nicer interior (American car manufacturers still haven’t figured this one out), but that lack of power turns me away from this car. Once they fix that (torque wins races….) this will be a real contender against the Mustang etc.

It’s faster than a V6 mustang but not faster than a V8 mustang, so I would agree with the author it is not a mustang killer. It is intended to compete with other imports. GT mustang 0-60 claimed by Ford back in 2006 to be 5.3 seconds. People are giving me mixed reports anywhere from 0-60 in 4.9 seconds to 0-60 in 5.1 seconds. Ford may have under rated the vehicle, much like they under rated the V6 horsepower (210hp versus dyno showing 235hp).

Genesis is a good car, but I think Hyundai should make a new badge and luxury line and rebrand the car. At least they should have made a Genesis emblem and branded it that way, much like the Tiburon had its own emblems.
